SUPPORT GROUPS & ASSOCIATIONS

There are many support groups, associations and organisations who strive to improve the quality of life of those with dwarfism, or who aim to bring little people together for social, sporting, or support-orientated events. These groups and organisations are great sources of information and support for parents who have a young child who has just been diagnosed with the condition, and are also a fantastic way for older people to socialise and become more involved in the community.

The Restricted Growth Association is an important organization within the UK which aims to break down the stereotypes around dwarfism and other restricted growth conditions, and which provides support and advice to those who have the condition. Not only do they have a large selection of literature on the condition, but they also offer advice about clothing and shoes, help for parents, and a gathering point for young adults.

One of the largest organisations is the Little People of America group, which has done a great deal in the education of the general public about dwarfism and related conditions, and which has campaigned relentlessly for the consideration of little people in every day life.

There are a number of informative websites and books which also cover the topic, and if you require further information your local doctor should literature or pamphlets on hand to help you out.
